Awaken your senses…
With her own unique style, which she titles “Groovy Arts,” she is known for capturing the spontaneity of today’s pop culture with timeless scenes of diverse attraction, exaggerated features and distinctive characters. Her work is bright, fun and hip. Her use of colour, jubilant and unabashed wakes up your senses and reacquaints you with a sudden sense of joyfulness.
Born in 1965, Karen attended Laval University for fine arts. After completing university, Karen enjoyed a career as an illustrator working for a children’s wear company called “Saute Mouton” in Quebec City. Here she was able to use her whimsy designs to create fun apparel for children. Karen’s love of design and art eventually led her to Toronto where her unique sense of creativity was welcomed and embraced.
In 1999, she began painting and selling her art through art galleries, art events and upscale boutiques which also led to a wide range of licensing opportunities in the giftware and packaging industry.
From fashion ad campaigns for Holt Renfrew to licensing new products, Karen’s art has enjoyed an overwhelming response over the past few years. She was the official artist for the high-profile “2003 Pink Bedroom Party” by Jeanne Lottie — For The Breast Cancer Foundation. And, for “Fashion Cares” — Charity Event for Aids. Her paintings fetched thousands of dollars for the charities.
